Gary is our Techno-Wizard. He started in the HVACR business in 1980. He worked for his uncle Clarence Kistemaker a genius with electricity and well known and respected for his knowledge and teaching skills. Uncle Kissy as we called him taught Gary to be a Journeyman Electrician with the help of local union #38. Gary then moved into the HVACR industry and continued his education with RSES-Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. Clarence paid for all the classes, and encouraged all extra training opportunities available. Within 10 years, Gary had become an expert in that field, and earned himself a Certified mechanical specialist certificate with RSES. At that time, a friend and mensa named Phil Norris was the RSES boy genius, but Gary stole it from him and became the youngest and smartest air conditioning specialist in Cleveland. He worked for his uncle for 16 years, then Clarence retired and Gary bought his business. He re-named the company from Brooklyn Climate Control to Simply Solutions-HVAC. Gary has had a ton of commercial business accolades and inventions over the next years, known as The Problem Solver. He prefers to repair rather than replace your equipment, until it doesn't make sense. Gary will take care of you and your equipment as if it were his own.
Phil used to be the RSES Cleveland Chapter Golden Boy until around 1990 when GARY Heym took it from him. Phil taught HVAC for RSES and various technical colleges for 35 years, including West Side Institute of Technology, Kaplan Career Center and Vaterott College. Phil has retired from teaching, but has an awesome knowledge of the industry, and loves to now work with his hands.
